What Are the Benefits of Using CBD Ointment?

In 2020, more than one-third of American adults used CBD to remedy a variety of health problems, and the number is only expected to grow.

The sudden surge in CBD’s popularity has provided easy access to the seemingly miraculous healing properties of cannabis. From tinctures and salves to lattes and bath bombs, you’ll find CBD almost everywhere.

If you’re on the search for an alternative treatment to aid your skin, joints, or muscles, I have the information that can help.

Here is everything you need to know about using this form of cannabis and why a CBD ointment may be the best for you.

What Is CBD?

CBD, more formally known as cannabidiol, is an essential component of medical marijuana that is derived directly from the hemp plant.

This substance takes action in our body’s endocannabinoid system, a complex cell-signaling system that regulates a wide range of functions including mood, appetite, sleep, and also fertility.

When the endocannabinoid system is functioning properly, we feel much happier, healthier, and more balanced.

In addition to an improved mood and better sleep, CBD is commonly used to treat symptoms of:

  • Anxiety and Depression
  • Acne
  • High Blood Pressure
  • Drug Addiction
  • Diabetes
  • Cancer

A common misconception is that CBD can cause the “high” that marijuana is known for. In reality, it contains a very small amount of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), if any at all, meaning that you can enjoy the many health benefits of cannabis without the psychedelic effects.

CBD Ointment Uses

Topical CBD products are some of the most accessible forms of medical marijuana. When you’re shopping, I’m certain you’ll come across many kinds of CBD skin creams, lotions, balms, and gels.

CBD topicals are a great way to provide targeted relief to specific problem areas. Although mostly used to and alleviate pain in joints and muscles, it may also help with:

  • Arthritis
  • Headaches and Migraines
  • Eczema
  • Menstrual Cramps
  • Psoriasis

They’re also very easy to use. Simply apply a small amount of the product to your skin, rub it in until it’s absorbed, and enjoy the relief.

Beware of the ‘Snake Oil’ Products

Unfortunately, not all CBD products are created equal.

The fad has fostered an oversaturated market and a lack of regulation. Many companies will say that their product is high-quality and abundant with CBD, but the label won’t match their claims.

I call them ‘snake oil’ products. These fraudulent commodities plague the CBD market. One study proved that only 31% of CBD products are labeled correctly.

This makes it more important than ever to do your research and ask questions.

Usually, a reputable CBD product will have a COA, meaning it has been third-party tested by an outside laboratory.

It’s also a good idea to check the heavy metal and pesticide analyses. This will determine if the product is safe for topical application or ingestion.

What Kind of CBD Is Best?

The answer to this will depend on your personal preferences. CBD can be full-spectrum, broad-spectrum, or isolate. Here is a quick breakdown of each extract.

Full-Spectrum: Contains all beneficial compounds naturally found in cannabis, including up to .3% of THC. If you want something that effectively treats serious medical conditions, this is the one you’ll want to look for.

Broad-Spectrum: Contains a range of naturally occurring compounds from cannabis. It’s not as potent in THC as full-spectrum, but it still offers plenty of benefits.

Isolate: Crystalline solid or powder that does not contain any THC. This is a good option for those who cannot or don’t want to consume any THC through CBD.

For sore muscles, aching joints, or irritated skin, I find that using a full spectrum CBD salve works the best.

The one from Ananda Hemp is one of my personal favorites. Not only is it highly effective, but it’s made with nourishing moisturizers like coconut oil and shea butter.

Try a CBD Salve

In a sea of CBD products, salve is by far one of the most used, and it’s for good reason.

The convenience and accessibility of topical CBD products make them ideal choices if you want quick relief from muscle aches or skin trouble.

Try it out and see the results for yourself.
